Throw It Open to the Light

"Finding beauty in a broken world is creating beauty in the world we find."

- Terry Tempest Williams

We were made to move. Bending, softening, contracting, holding, surrendering -- all that moves is in life. The body knows movement as health. When I feel stuck, heavy, knocked down by the events of the day, the month, the year, I come back to the kinetic playground of the body's yang which drives up and out of the muscles, and out through the Heart. Circulation opens. Blood quickens, and the spirit rises and spreads, imbuing all the body's water, all the body's organs, transcending all it touches. Burning off the edges of impossibility, of sorrow, of disappointment, bringing light to crowded spaces.

Make light.

“Written on the body is a secret code only visible in certain lights: the accumulations of a lifetime gather there. In places the palimpsest is so heavily worked that the letters feel like BrailleI like to keep my body rolled up away from prying eyes, never unfold too much, or tell the whole story."

- Jeanette Winterson, Written on the Body

Throw it open to the light.

Rumi wrote,

"O day, arise! The atoms are dancing.
Thanks to Him the universe is dancing.
The souls are dancing, overcome with ecstasy.
I'll whisper in your ear where their dance is taking them.
All the atoms in the air and in the desert know well, they seem insane.
Every single atom, happy or miserable,
Becomes enamoured of the sun, of which nothing can be said."
